About US

The Street Business School: A Path to Financial Freedom

WIPG, through the Street Business School , empowers women survivors of conflict, widows, single mothers, and young women from vulnerable communities to start and grow sustainable small businesses. The program offers practical training in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, leadership, and business management, alongside mentorship, access to credit, and psychosocial support. By promoting economic independence, SBS enables women to rebuild their lives and become active contributors to peace and development. Since its creation, the program has trained over 1,200 women in South and North Kivu, with more than 60% successfully launching or expanding businesses in trade, and crafts. These results reflect WIPG’s mission to strengthen women and youth as leaders in peace, governance, and sustainable development.

Before joining the Street Business School program, I had no income and depended entirely on my family. Through the training, I can now pay my own rent and my sister’s school fees. WIPG restored my confidence and taught me that peace also begins with economic independence.

Thanks to WIPG, I learned basic business management and started a small poultry farm. This project not only helps me meet my own needs but also provides jobs for other young people. I now believe that by working together, we can build peace through local development. I feel proud to contribute to my community.

By participating in WIPG’s leadership and governance training, I realized that young people also have a role to play in peacebuilding. Together with other alumni, we created a community dialogue club to prevent conflicts between neighborhoods. I’m proud to contribute to a fairer and more peaceful society.
